Bringing Art to Public Spaces in Summit
The City of Summit established the Mayor’s Partnership for Public Art in 2002. Its mission is to bring art — mainly contemporary sculpture — to public spaces in the city.

can use this site to learn more about the sculpture you see at various locations around the city, and to visit many of the artists’ websites.
The Mayor's Partnership for Public Art is often known simply as Public Art/Summit. It has placed sculpture at various public locations around Summit since 2004. Most works remain in place for about six months.
Public Art/Summit also commissioned and installed art-glass windows in the three bus shelters on the Village Green.
Although it is a city entity, Public Art/Summit receives no funding from the city for acquisitions or operations. It raises money through personal donations and public and private grants. As of the end of 2009, Public Art/Summit had raised more than $135,000 to support its projects. Summit’s department of community services provides staff support.
