Bringing art to public spaces in Summit

Permanent Installations

Public Art/Summit has recently commissioned a new work that will grace one of the main entrances to the city. Creation of the work depends on a fundraising effort during 2010.

Between 2004 and 2006, Public Art/Summit commissioned and installed art-glass windows in three bus shelters on the Village Green in downtown Summit. These shelters mainly serve commuters, both Summit residents on their way to work and people who come to work in Summit. This is our only permanent installation to date, although we hope and plan to add additional permanent installations.

Although it is a city entity, Summit Arts receives no funding from the city for acquisitions or operations. It raises money through personal donations and public and private grants. As of the end of 2007, Summit Arts had raised more than $105,000 to support its projects. Summit’s department of community services provides staff support.
