Since 2004, Public Art/Summit has installed almost thirty works of contemporary sculpture at various public locations around the city. After several months on display, these works are typically moved to different locations, or returned to the artists.
These installations offer the opportunity for accidental encounters between people and art they might not see if it were not installed in a public place. We hope this enhances the lives of Summit's residents, as well as of people who come to Summit to work, to shop, to eat, to worship, or just to visit.
Works that were formerly on display are shown on this page. Click on any image for a larger view and more information on the work.
Although it is a city entity, Summit Arts receives no funding from the city for acquisitions or operations. It raises money through personal donations and public and private grants. As of the end of 2007, Summit Arts had raised more than $105,000 to support its projects. Summit’s department of community services provides staff support.
